Hello again.

Hello again.
Donkey Kong 3, PC Engine

It's me! Your friendly neighborhood blogger man Bijan. The first thing you'll note is that this newsletter is not on Substack. You know why. And so here we are, starting again. This time on Ghost.

The second thing you'll probably notice: there are now subscription tiers. That's right, I'm asking for money now. Well, not asking. But hoping at least a healthy percentage of you will see this email, look at the tiers, and think: "hm, well, a year of THAT sounds pretty great to me!" And, you know, subscribe. Because one thing I learned leaving Substack was that email's not free; that it costs a certain amount of money to use clog people's inboxes and/or give them reading homework. Newsletters, as it turns out, aren't free. Who knew!

That said, you don't have to spend money to, like, get pretty much all of these newsletters. I don't like the idea of hiding things behind a paywall, but that's kind of the reality of doing business on the internet. Exclusive content sells. I wish I could just send 'sletters in exchange for voluntary donations!! But alas, you know, things being how they are, etc.

Anyway, all this is to say that I'm excited to start writing more regularly here. I'm gonna aim for a once a week cadence to start, and then check in to see where that leaves me in a couple months or so. Subscribers to all the tiers above $1 a month will get the extra stuff I've been working on — games, fiction, extra blogs, and whatever else I can think to send. If you subscribe to the frankly insane $100 a month tier for an entire year, at the end of the year I will kiss you on the mouth at a New York City location of your choosing.

Okay! Now that's all out of the way, I just wanted to thank you all again for reading my work and liking it enough to hit subscribe. I'm infinitely grateful for each and every one of you.

Be seeing you,

Bijan
